Materials

100 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in main colour (your choice)

Oddment of King Cole big value baby DK for contrast colour

4.50mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks


TENSION - 11 sts and 10 rows  of dc measures approx 2” x 2”

Large Centre Mat - With 4.50mm hook and main colour yarn make 31ch, 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (30dc)


Next Row - 2ch, miss first dc, 1dc into next dc, * 1ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt

from * to * to end. Turn.


Pattern Row - 2ch, miss first dc, * 1dc into next 1ch space, 1ch, miss next dc, * rpt

from * to * to end, 1dc into top of last 2ch. Turn.


Rpt last row 46 more times, making 49 rows in all or until work measures approx 9“ from beginning. Turn.


Edging - Change to 4.00mm hook, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dc into next 1ch space, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to 2ch to turn, 3dc into top of 2ch, working down

the first side of mat, work 38dc evenly into row ends to corner. Fasten off. Rejoin yarn

and working up the second side of mat, work 38dc evenly into row ends to corner. Turn.


Next Row - Work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc around all four sides of

mat working 3dc into corners, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. Rpt last row three more times. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast colour yarn, make 1ch, (1dc, 4ch, 1dc) into base of 1ch,*

miss 1dc, (1dc, 4ch, 1dc)  into next dc, *  rpt from * to * to around all four sides of mat to end, ss to first dc. Fasten off.


Small Side Mat x 2 - With 4.50mm hook and main colour yarn make 19ch, 1dc into 2nd

ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. (18dc)


Next Row – 2ch, miss first dc, 1dc into next dc, * 1ch, miss 1dc, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.


Pattern Row - 2ch, miss first dc, * 1dc into next 1ch space, 1ch, miss next dc, * rpt from

* to * to end, 1dc into top of last 2ch. Turn.


Rpt last row 13 more times, making 16 rows in all or until work measures approx 3“ from beginning. Turn.


Edging - Change to 4.00mm hook, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dc into next 1ch space, 1dc into next dc, * rpt from * to * to 2ch to turn, 3dc into top of 2ch, working down

the first side of mat, work 16dc evenly into row ends to corner. Fasten off. Rejoin yarn

and working up the second side of mat, work 16dc evenly into row ends to corner. Turn.


Next Row - Work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc around all four sides of mat working 3dc into corners, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. Rpt last row once. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row  - Join in contrast colour yarn, make 1ch, (1dc, 4ch, 1dc) into base of 1ch,* miss 1dc, (1dc, 4ch, 1dc)  into next dc, *  rpt from * to * to around all four sides of mat to end, ss to first dc. Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew in tie off all loose ends of yarn, Decorate with Contrast colour ribbon bows.
