400 grams of King Cole Melody in Strawberry (962)

14oz of Light Worsted #3 Variegated Yarn

4.50mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks

GAUGE - 3, 3dc groups & 4 complete patterns measures approx. 2” square (5cm x 5cm)

Commence Afghan

With WS facing and using 4.00mm hook ch154, 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, * ch3, skip

ch3, 1sc in next ch * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (39sc)

Next Row - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * 1sc in ch3 space, 3dc in sc, * rpt from * to * to last

ch space and sc, 1sc in ch space, 2dc in last sc. Turn. (37, 3dc groups + 2 halves)

Row 1 - ch1, 1sc in base of ch, * ch3, 1sc in centre dc of 3dc group, * rpt from

* to * to last dc and ch3 to turn, work ch3, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn.

Row 2 - ch3, 1dc in base of ch3, * 1sc in ch3 space, 3dc in sc, * rpt from * to * to last ch space and sc, 1sc in ch space, 2dc in last sc. Turn.

The last 2 rows form the pattern, continue in pattern until 51 complete patterns have been worked in all or work measures approximately 28” from beginning. Turn.

Afghan Edging - (WS) Using 4.50mm hook, work Row 1 from the pattern rows

above to ch3 to turn at end of row, work 3sc in top of ch3, continue by working down first side of blanket by working 1sc in each row end evenly along side of blanket, (102sc) 3sc

in corner, work 2sc in each ch3 space and 1sc in each sc along bottom of blanket, 3sc in corner, work 1sc in each row end evenly along second side of blanket, (102sc) 3sc in corner, working along top of blanket work 2sc in each ch3 space and 1sc in each sc to

last sc, 2sc in last sc, sl st to first sc. Turn.

Next Row - Working 3sc in each corner as you go, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each

sc all around the four sides of the blanket, sl st to first sc. Turn. Rpt last row once.

Next Row - ch1, work (1sc, 3dc, 1sc) in base of ch1, skip 2sc, * (1sc, 3dc, 1sc) in next sc, skip 2sc * rpt from * to * around four sides of blanket to end, sl st to first sc at beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing

Sew in and tie off any loose ends of yarn, decorate with ribbon bows and rosebuds.
