Crab Stitch. dc worked backwards

Approx size: Will fit a 7.5 Inch in length baby bottle

Materials

50 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in main colour

Oddments of Baby Double Knitting in 3 contrast colours

4.50mm crochet hook

TENSION - One (3tr group, dc) and 2 rows of pattern measures approx 1 Inch Square

Bottle cover - With 4.50mm hook and main colour make 6ch, ss to first ch to make a

ring, (RS) 3ch, work 13tr into ring, ss to top of 3ch. DNT. (13tr + 3ch)

Next Round - 3ch, 1tr into base of 3ch, work 2tr into each tr to end, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. DNT. (27tr + 3ch)

Next Round - Working into back loop of stitch only, make 3ch, work 2tr into base of

3ch, * miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, miss 1tr, 3tr into next tr, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr, miss

1tr, 1dc into next tr, miss 1tr, ss to top of 3ch. Turn. (7, 3tr groups)

Pattern Row - Working into back loop only of all dc's, make 1ch, ss into first dc, 3ch,

2tr into same dc, * miss 1tr, 1dc into centre tr of 3tr group, miss 1tr, 3tr into next dc, * rpt from * to * to last 3tr group, miss 1tr, 1dc into next tr, ss to top of 3ch on beginning of row. Turn.

The last row forms the pattern, rpt row until 9 Pattern Rows have been worked in all.

Fasten off.

Joining yarn to back loop of first dc, work Pattern Row once in each of the 3 contrast colours. Fasten off.

Join in main colour and work Pattern Row twice. Fasten off.

With main colour yarn, return to loops on base of cover, with top of cover nearest to you

and with 4.50mm hook, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dc into each of next 2dc loops, 2dc into next loop, * rpt from * to * to end, ss to first dc on beginning of row. (38dc) DNT.

Work 1 row of crab stitch (see abbrev above) into each dc to end, ss to first dc on

beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing - Sew and tie off ends, place cover over baby bottle.
