dcf. Work double crochet around front of the
       double crochet on row below

dcb. Work double crochet around back of the
        double crochet on row below
ch3 counts as first dc

Hot Water Bottle approx size:- 10.5" L  x 7.5" W
(not including neck)

Materials
3.5oz of Fingering yarn
4 Medium Buttons, small amount of 6mm wide ribbon and rosebud for decoration
5.00mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks

GAUGE - 5dc and 2 rows of dc's measures approx 1 Inch square using 4.00mm hook

With 4.00mm hook ch8. Fasten off (Will come back too)

Starting at Bottle Neck (Worked in one piece throughout) - With 5.00mm hook, ch36,
sl st to first ch to form a ring, work ch3, 1dc in each ch to end, sl st to top of ch3 on
beginning of row. Turn. (35dc + ch3)

Row 2 - ch3, * 1dcf in next dc, 1dcb in next dc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to top of ch3
on beginning of row. Turn. Starting with dcb on next and every alternate row, rpt last row
six more times, you should have eight rows worked in all. Turn.

Row 9 - Change to 4.00mm hook, ch3, work 1dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3
on beginning of row. Turn. Rpt last row six more times, you should have 15 rows worked
in all. ch11 turn.

Body - Work 3dc in 4th ch from hook, 1dc in each of next 7ch, 1dc in each of next 18dc from the first half of neck (see diagram below), return to 8ch made earlier and work 1dc in each of next 7ch, 8dc in last ch, working on opposite side of ch, work 1dc in each of next 7ch, 1dc in each of next 18dc from second half of neck, working on opposite side of ch, work 1dc in each of next 7ch, 4dc in last ch, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (79dc + ch3)







Row 17 - ch3, dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. Rpt last row three more times. Turn.

Row 21 - Change to 5.00mm hook, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc into next dc, * ch2, skip 2dc, 1sc in each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last 2sc, ch2, skip 2dc, sl st to first sc.
Turn. (20, ch2 spaces)

Row 22 - ch3, 3dc in first ch2 space, 4dc in each ch2 space to end, ss to top of ch3.
Turn. (20, 4dc Groups)

Row 23 - ch1, 2sc in first space between 4dc group and ch3 to turn, * ch2, skip 4dc,
2sc between next two 4dc groups, * rpt from * to * to last 3dc, work ch2, skip 3dc, sl st
to first sc. Turn.

Row 24 - ch3, 3dc in first ch2 space, 4dc in each ch2 space to end, ss to top of ch3.
Turn. (20, 4dc Groups)

Rows 23 and 24 form the pattern, rpt both rows until eight 4dc group rows have been worked in all. Turn.

Row 37 - Change to 4.00mm hook, ch3, 1dc in each dc to end, sl st to top of ch3 on beginning of row. Turn. (79dc + ch3) Rpt last row four more times. Turn.

Flap - ch3, 1dc in each of next 39dc, turn leaving 40dc un-worked. (39dc + ch3)

Next Row - ch3, dc in each dc to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. Rpt last row once. Turn.

Next Row - Change to 5.00mm hook, ch3, * 1dcf in next dc, 1dcb in next dc, * rpt from
* to * to end, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn. Rpt last row three more times.  Fasten off.

Finishing - Close small gap on left hand side of neck, sew in and tie off loose ends of
yarn, attach 4 medium sized buttons evenly along dc's on bottom of hot water bottle cover, fold up flap and use gaps in dc's as buttonholes. Decorate with a ribbon bow and rosebud.
