Materials
140 grams of Bernat Softee baby in Main Colour
30 grams of  Double Knitting in each of 2 Contrast Colours

OR
5oz of Worsted Weight #3 Yarn in Main Color
1.1oz of Worsted Weight #3 in each of 2 Contrast Colors
6.00mm, 4.50mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks

GAUGE - 5sc and 4 rows of pattern measures approx 1Inch

Using 6.00mm hook and first contrast color, ch39 loosely, change to 4.50mm hook, work
vst (see abbrev) in 5th ch from hook, * skip ch1, 1dc in next ch, skip ch1, vst in next ch
* rpt from * to * to last ch2, skip ch1, 1dc in last ch. Turn. (9vst). Fasten off.
  
Next Row - Join in main color, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc and ch1 space
to end, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn. (37sc)

Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. Rpt last row once more. Turn. Fasten off.
 
Pattern Row 1 - Join in second contrast color ch3, * skip 1sc, vst in next sc, skip 1sc,
1dc in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end, working last dc in last sc. Turn.(9vst) Fasten off.
 
Pattern Row 2 - Join in main color, work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc and
ch1 space to end, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn. (37sc)
 
Pattern Rows 3-4 - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. Fasten off.
 
The last 4 rows form the pattern, rpt rows using contrast colors alternately
until 46 complete patterns have been worked or you have 184 rows from beginning.

Next Row - Using first contrast color, work Pattern Row 1 once. Turn. Fasten off.  Work
now measures approx 46.5 inches from beginning. Turn.

Edging - Join in main color, using 4.00mm hook and working on WS ch1, 2sc in base of
ch1, 1sc in each dc and ch1 space to ch3 to turn, 3sc in top of ch3, working down first side of runner in row ends, work 1sc in each of next 4 row ends, * 2sc in next row end, 1sc in
each of next 3 row ends, * rpt from * to * to vst row end and corner, 2sc in vst row end,
3sc in corner, 1sc in each ch along cast on edge, 3sc in corner, rpt from * to * up second side of runner in row ends to vst row end and corner, 2sc in vst row end, 1sc in base of
ch1, sl st to first sc. Turn.

Next Row - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc around all four sides of runner,
working 3sc in each of three corners, 1sc in base of ch1, sl st to first sc on the end of row. Turn. Rpt last row once.

Decorative Edge  - ch1, (sl st, 3hdc, sl st) in base of ch1, * skip 1sc, sl st in next sc, skip 1sc, (sl st, 3hdc, sl st) in next sc, * rpt from * to * all around four sides of runner to last 3sc, skip 1sc, sl st in next sc, skip 1sc, sl st to first sl st on beginning of row. Fasten off.

Finishing - Sew in and tie off all loose ends of yarn.
