Materials

3.5oz of Baby Fingering Yarn and a small amount of Contrast Color for Brim.

G (4.50mm), F (4.00mm) & E (3.50mm) crochet hooks

GAUGE - 10dc and 6 rows of dc measures approx 2” x 2” (5cm x 5cm)

With G (4.50mm) hook, ch77, sl st to first ch to make a ring, change to E (3.50mm) hook, ch3, 1dc in each ch to end. Turn (76dc + ch3).

Starting with ch3 on every row, work 16 more rows in dc stitch making 17 rows in all. Fasten off. Turn.

Working in back loop of stitch only join contrast color yarn, work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to end, sl st to first sc. Turn. (77sc).

Next Row - Working through both loops on stitch from now on, ch1, sl st to base of ch1, * 1dc in next sc, sl st in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to first sl st on beginning of row. Turn.

Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each stitch to end, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Work the last two rows 4 more times, slip stitching and turning at the end of each row. Fasten off. (77sc).

Re-join main color yarn to cast on edge and work 1sc in each ch to end, sl st to first sc. Fasten off.

Make Chain Tie - With F (4.00mm) hook and a strand of each color ch110. Fasten off.

Make pompoms - (Make one in main color and one in contrast color) Cut two circles of card about ½” across. Cut a small hole in the centre of each circle and place the circles together, thread yarn round and round the circle, making sure that the yarn is evenly distributed around the centre hole. Continue until the hole is full. Use sharp pointed scissors to snip the yarn between the two card circles, wind yarn around middle of two pieces of card and secure, leave length of yarn to sew with. Remove card and trim the pompom to the required size.

Finishing - Sew and tie off any ends, centre hat seam at back, starting at centre on front of hat, thread chain tie through alternate dc’s on second row of dc’s from top of hat, tie in a bow and attach bobbles to each end. Fold back brim.
