Materials
3.5oz of Light Worsted #3 in Main color, small amount of Contrast Color
H (5.00mm) & F (4.00mm) crochet hooks
TENSION - 2, 5dc groups and 6 rows of 5dc groups measures approx 2” x 2” (5cm x 5cm)

Place Mat - With H (5.00mm) hook and main color, ch38, change to F (4.00mm) hook,
work 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, * skip 2ch, 5dc group in next ch, skip 2ch, 1sc in
next ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (6, 5dc groups).
Pattern Row 1 - ch3, 2dc in base of ch3, * skip 2dc, 1sc in centre dc of 5dc group,
skip 2dc, 5dc group in next sc, * rpt from * to * to last sc, 3dc in last sc. Turn.
Pattern Row 2 - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * skip 2dc, 5dc group in next sc, skip 2dc,
1sc in centre dc of 5dc group, * rpt from * to * to end, 1sc in top of ch3. Turn.
The above 2 rows form the pattern, rpt both rows until 22 rows have been worked in
all. Fasten off. Turn.
Join in contrast color and work Pattern Row 2, continue with contrast color and work
Pattern Rows 1, 2, 1, change to main color and work Pattern Rows 2, 1, 2 turning
at the end of each row.
Decorative Edge
Next Row - With F (4.00mm) hook, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * 1sc in each of next 5dc,
1hdc in sc, * rpt from * to * to last sc, (36st) 3sc in last sc, working down side
of place mat and in row ends, work 1sc in rows ending with a sc and 2sc in rows ending
with 3dc, (43sc) 3sc in last stitch, work * 2sc in ch2 space, 1sc in base of 5dc
group, 2sc in ch2 space, 1sc in base of sc, * rpt from * to * to end, (35sc) 3sc
in last sc, working up side of place mat and in row ends, work 1sc in rows ending
with a sc and 2sc in rows starting with ch3 and 2dc, (43sc) sl st to first sc. Turn.
Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc and hdc all around 4 sides of
place mat, working 3sc in corners, sl st to first sc. Turn.
Next Row - ch3, 3dc in base of ch3, * skip 2sc, 1sc in next sc, skip 2sc, 7dc in
next sc, * rpt from * to * around all sides to end work 3dc in base of ch3 on beginning
of row, sl st to top of ch3. Fasten off.
Finishing - Sew in and tie off all loose ends.
Coaster- With H (5.00mm) hook and main color, ch14, change to F (4.00mm) hook, work
1sc in 2nd ch from hook, * skip 2ch, 5dc group in next ch, skip 2ch, 1sc in next
ch, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (2, 5dc groups).
Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 same as for place mat until 4 rows have been worked in all.
Fasten off.
Join in contrast color and work Pattern Row 2, continue with contrast color and work
Pattern Rows 1, 2, 1 turning at the end of each row. Fasten off.
Decorative Edge
Next Row - With F (4.00mm) hook, change to main color, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, *
1sc in each of next 2dc, 1hdc in sc, 1sc in each of next 5dc, 1hdc in sc, 1sc in
each of next 2dc, (12st) 3sc in top of ch3, working down side of coaster and in row
ends, work 1sc in rows ending with a sc and 2sc in rows starting with ch3 and 2dc,
(11sc) 3sc in last stitch, work * 2sc in ch2 space, 1sc in base of 5dc group, 2sc
in ch2 space, 1sc in base of sc, * rpt from * to * to end, (11sc) 3sc in last sc,
working up side of place mat and in row ends, work 1sc in rows ending with a sc and
2sc in rows ending with 3dc, (12sc) sl st to first sc. Turn.
Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc and hdc all around 4 sides of
coaster, working 3sc in corners, sl st to first sc. Turn.
Next Row - ch3, 3dc in base of ch3, * skip 2sc, 1sc in next sc, skip 2sc, 7dc in
next sc, * rpt from * to * around all sides to end, work 3dc in base of ch3 on beginning
of row, sl st to top of ch3. Fasten off.
Finishing - Sew in and tie off all loose ends.
Napkin Ring - With H (5.00mm) hook and main color, ch8, change to F (4.00mm) hook,
work 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, skip 2ch, * 5dc group in next ch, skip 2ch, 1sc in
last ch. Turn. (1, 5dc group).
Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 same as for place mat and coaster until 6 rows have been worked
in all. Fasten off.
Join in contrast color and work Pattern Row 2, continue with contrast color and work
Pattern Rows 1, 2, 1 turning at the end of each row.
Change to main color and starting with Pattern Row 2, work both pattern rows until
11 more rows have been worked, turning at the end of each row.
With WS facing and H (5.00mm) hook, sl st bottom and top edges together to make a
ring. Fasten off.
Decorative Edge (same for both sides)
Next Row - With main color and F (4.00mm) hook rejoin yarn to side of napkin ring,
ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, working in row ends, work 1sc in rows ending with a sc and
2sc in rows ending with 3dc, sl st to first sc. Turn. (33sc)
Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to last sc, work 2sc in last
sc, sl st to first sc. Turn. (34sc)
Next Row - ch3, 3dc in base of ch3, * skip 2sc, 1sc in next sc, skip 1sc, 7dc in
next sc, * rpt from * to * to end, work 3dc in base of ch3 on beginning of row, sl
st to top of ch3. (6, 7dc Groups) Fasten off.
Finishing - Sew in and tie off all loose ends.
