Materials

3.5oz of Baby Light Worsted Yarn #3 in main color

Oddment of Baby Light Worsted #3 in contrast color

F (4.00mm) & G (G (4.50mm)) crochet hooks, 1 medium button

TENSION - 10hdc and 7rows of hdc measures approx 2” x 2” (5cm x 5cm)

BIB - (RS) Using F (4.00mm) hook and main color, ch21, 1hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 1hdc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. (19hdc + ch2)

2nd row – (Inc row) ch2, 1hdc in base of ch2, 1hdc in each hdc to ch2 to turn, 2hdc in top of ch2. Turn. (21hdc + ch2).

3rd row - ch2, 1hdc in each hdc to end, 1hdc in top of ch2. Turn. (21hdc + ch2)
4th to 9th rows - Rpt last 2 rows until you have 27hdc and ch2. Turn.

Continue without increasing until work measures from beginning 6” or 22hdc rows have been worked in all ending with RS facing. (27hdc + ch2)

Shape neck:

Row 1 - (RS) ch2, 1hdc in each of first 5hdc, dec 1hdc over next 2hdc (see abbreviations above). Turn leave remaining 19hdc and ch2 un-worked.

Row 2 - ch2, dec 1hdc over next 2hdc, 1hdc in each hdc to end, 1hdc in top of ch2. Turn. (5hdc + ch2)

Row 3 - ch2, 1hdc in each hdc to last hdc and ch2, dec 1hdc over last hdc and ch2. Turn. (4hdc + ch2). Work 10 rows of 1hdc in each hdc turning at the end of each row.

Next row - (WS) ch2, 1hdc in base of ch2, 1hdc in each hdc to last hdc and ch2, dec 1hdc over last hdc and ch2. Turn.

Next row - ch2, dec 1hdc over next 2hdc, 1hdc in next hdc, 2hdc in top of ch2. Turn. Rpt last 2 rows twice more. Fasten off.

With RS of work facing, skip next 12hdc, Join yarn with sl st to next hdc, ch2, dec 1hdc over next 2hdc, 1hdc in each hdc to end, 1hdc in top of ch2. Turn. (6hdc + ch2). Work to correspond first side reversing all shaping.

Edging: - Using G (4.50mm) hook join main color yarn with a sl st to top left corner of neck edge, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 2 rows of sc evenly all around outer edge of bib to last 2sc on second row, ch2, skip 1sc, (buttonhole made) 1sc in last sc, sl st to firsts sc on beginning of row. Fasten off. Turn.

Next row - Join in contrast color with a sl st, ch3, 2dc in same sc as last sl st, skip 1sc, sl st in ch2 space, 2dc in same space, * skip 2sc, sl st in next sc, ch3, work 2dc in base of ch3, * rpt from * to * around all sides, sl st to first sl st.

Finishing – Sew in and tie off any loose ends of yarn, attach button to correspond with button hole.
