60 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in Color 1
20 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in Color 2

OR
2.15oz of Worsted Weight #3 in color 1
1oz of Worsted Weight #3 in color 2
5.00mm crochet hook

GAUGE - 4sc and 4 rows of pattern measures approx 1 Inch

Using color 1, ch42 loosely, work 1sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1sc in each ch to end. Turn. (41sc)

Pattern Row 1 - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * 1dc in next sc, 1sc in next sc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc and sc to end. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 in color sequence as follows:-

Four more times in color 1
Twice in color 2. Fasten off.
Once in color 1. Fasten off.
Twice in color 2. Fasten off.
Eight more times in color 1. Fasten off.
Twice in color 2. Fasten off.
Once in color 1. Fasten off.
Twice in color 2. Fasten off.
Five more times in color 1.
Turn.

Edging - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to last sc, 3sc in last sc, working down first side of placemat, work 1sc in each row end to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each ch along cast on edge, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each row end up second side of place mat, 1sc in corner, sl st to first sc. Turn.

Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc in each sc around all four sides to end, working 3sc in each corner. Turn.

Rpt last row once. Turn.

With RS facing work one row of crab stitch (see abbrev) around all four sides. Fasten off.

Finishing - Weave in any loose ends of yarn and trim.
