Stitch Pattern.  Multiples of 2


Finished size approx: 21 inches wide x 27 inches in length s


Materials

300 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in white (001) Main Colour

50 grams of King Cole big values baby DK in 2 Contrast Colours


OR

10.5oz of Light Worsted Yarn in Main Color

1.75oz of Light Worsted Yarn in 2 Contrast Colors

6.50mm & 5.00mm crochet hooks


GAUGE - 2 blocks and 4 pattern rows measures approx 1 Inch square

Main Part - Using 6.50mm hook and main color ch103, change to 5.00mm hook, 1dc

in 3rd ch from hook, * skip 1ch, (1sc, 1dc) in next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch's, skip

1ch, 1sc in last ch. Turn. (50, blocks)


Pattern row - ch2, 1dc in base of ch2, * skip 1dc, (1sc, 1dc) in next sc, * rpt from

* to * to last dc and ch2, skip last dc, 1sc in top of ch2. Turn.


Last row forms the pattern, rpt row 12 more times until 14 rows have been worked in all. Fasten off.


Rpt Pattern Row in color sequence as follows:-

# Twice in contrast color 1

Twice in main color

Twice in contrast color 2

14 times in main color #


Rpt Pattern Row in color sequence from # to # twice more.


Cover Edging - With 5.00mm hook, working down the first side of the cover in row

ends, work ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each row end to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in

each ch along cast on edge to next corner, 3sc in corner, work 1sc in each row end up

the second side of the cover to corner, 3sc in corner, work 1sc in each stitch across to last corner, 1sc in base of ch1, sl st to first sc. Turn.


Starting with ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, work one more row in sc around 4 sides of cover, working 3sc in corners and sl st at the end of row. Fasten off.


Flap - With 6.50mm hook ch19, change to 5.00mm hook, 1dc in 3rd ch from hook,

* skip 1ch, (1sc, 1dc) in next ch, * rpt from * to * to last 2ch's, skip 1ch, 1sc in last ch.

Turn. (8, blocks)


Pattern row - ch2, 1dc in base of ch2, * skip 1dc, (1sc, 1dc) in next sc, * rpt from

* to * to last dc and ch2, skip last dc, 1sc in top of ch2. Turn.


Last row forms the pattern, rpt row 12 more times until 14 rows have been worked in all. Fasten off.

Edging - With 5.00mm hook, working down the first side of the flap in row ends, work

ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each row end to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each ch

along cast on edge to next corner, 3sc in corner, work 1sc in each row end up the second side of the flap to corner, 3sc in corner, work 1sc in each stitch across to last corner,

1sc in base of ch1, sl st to first sc. Turn.


Starting with ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, work 2 more rows in sc, working 3sc in corners,

slip stitching and turning at the end of each row.


Next Row - Using 5.00mm hook and making sure colors are running in sequence to main part, rejoin main color yarn to corner, (see pic) ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * skip 1sc, 5dc in next sc, skip 1sc, 1sc in next sc, * rpt from * to * to corner. Fasten off.











Attaching flap - Working through back loop of main part and both loops of flap.


Place flap over main part, (matching stripes color to color) with main part facing you work

1sc in each sc to corner, 3sc in corner, work 1sc in each sc on main part to next corner,

3sc in corner, 1sc in each sc along bottom of cover, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each sc up

second side of main part, sl st to first sc. Fasten off. Sew in and tie off any loose ends of yarn, decorate with ribbon (optional).
