Materials

200 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in Colour 1

30 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in Colour 2

6.50mm & 5.00mm crochet hooks

TENSION - 3 tr2tog and 2.5 rows measures approx 1 Inch using 5.00mm hook

Using 6.50mm hook, make 72ch loosely, change to 5.00mm hook, working into back bar of ch, work 1tr into 3rd ch from hook, tr2tog (see abbrev) into each ch to end. Turn. (69, tr2tog, 1tr + 2ch)

Pattern Row 1 - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into tr2tog to last tr and 2ch, miss last tr work 1dc into top of 2ch. Turn. (70dc)

Pattern Row 2 - 2ch, 1tr into base of 2ch, tr2tog into each dc to end. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until 23, tr2tog rows have been worked in all. Turn.

Edging - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each tr2tog to last tr and 2ch, miss last tr, work 3dc into top of 2ch, work 66dc evenly down first side of mat, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along cast on edge, 3dc into corner, work 66dc evenly up second side of mat to corner, 1dc into corner, ss to first dc. Turn.

Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc around all four sides of mat to end, working 3dc into corners, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn.

Rpt last row in following sequence:-

2 rows in colour 1

3 rows in colour 2

2 rows in colour 1

3 rows in colour 2

Fasten off.
