Free Baby Crochet Patterns
Newborn T-Bag Hat

Abbreviations
WS. Wrong Side
RS. Right Side
ch. Chain

Base of ch. Work into first stitch
Size to fit approx: Newborn Baby
Materials
50 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in cream (046) Main Colour
20 grams of Stylecraft Special DK in claret (1123) contrast (optional for stripes)
5.00mm & 4.00mm crochet hooks
TENSION - 5dc and 4 rows measures approx 1 Inch using a 4.00mm hook

T-Bag Hat - With 5.00mm hook and contrast colour yarn make 37ch, change to 4.00mm
hook (WS) 1dc into 2nd ch from hook, 1dc into each ch to end. Turn. Fasten off. (36dc)
Join in main colour yarn.
Pattern Row - Working into back loop of stitch only make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch,
1dc into each dc to end. Turn.
Rpt Pattern Row 8 more times in main colour yarn until 10 rows have been worked from
beginning, this forms the colour sequence. Fasten off.
Weaving in ends as you go, rpt Pattern Row once in contrast colour yarn followed
by nine rows in main colour yarn until 70 rows have been worked in all from beginning.
Turn.
Fold in half from bottom to top, with WS facing slip stitch cast-on edge and the
last pattern
row together to form a circle. Do not fasten off.
Brim - With RS facing and working into row ends around the circle, make 1ch, 1dc
into
base of 1ch, work 69 more dc evenly around to end, ss to first dc. Turn. (70dc)
Starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work 1dc into each dc to end, ss to first
dc.
Fasten off.
Centre seam to back, ss top edge together to close, (see pic) weave in any loose
ends,
turn through to right side.
Finishing - Make 2 Pom-Poms in contrast colour, I used Clover Pom-Pom maker size
45, attach one pom-pom to each corner and secure tightly, fold brim up approx 1.5
Inches on to RS of hat.
