50 grams of James C Brett Baby Marble DK (1) Main
20 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in white (001) Contrast

OR
1.75oz of Variegated Worsted Weight #3 Yarn in Main Color
1oz of Worsted Weight #3 Yarn in Contrast Color
4.50mm crochet hook

GAUGE - 5dc and 2 rows measure approx 1 Inch

Using 4.50mm hook and main color, ch44 loosely, (WS) work 1dc in 4th ch from hook, * ch3, skip 3ch's, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to * to end. Turn. (8 blocks of 2dc + 1dc and ch3)

Next Row - ch3, skip 1dc, work * 5dc in next ch3 space, skip 2dc, * rpt from * to * to last
ch3 space, 5dc in ch3 space, skip 1dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Pattern Row 1 - ch3, 1dc in next dc, * ch3, skip 3dc, 1dc in each of next 2dc, * rpt from * to
* to end, working last dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Pattern Row 2 - ch3, skip 1dc, work * 5dc in next ch3 space, skip 2dc, * rpt from * to * to
last ch3 space, 5dc in ch3 space, skip 1dc, 1dc in top of ch3. Turn.

Rpt Pattern Rows 1 & 2 until fourteen, 5dc group rows have been worked in all. Turn.

Edging - ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each dc to ch3 to turn with, work 3sc in top of ch3, working down the first side of mat in row ends work 55sc evenly along to corner, 3sc in corner, work 40sc evenly along cast on edge to next corner, 3sc in corner, working again in row ends up second side of mat work 55sc evenly along to corner, 1sc in corner, sl st to
first sc. Fasten off. Turn.

Next Row - Join in contrast color, working through back loop only, ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc around all sides of mat to end, working 3sc in each of the corners, sl st to
first sc on beginning of row. Turn.

Work through both loops from now on and rpt last row 3 more times. Fasten off. Turn.

Pattern Row - Rejoin main color, ch6, work 3dc around the post of the ch6, (see pic 1)
* skip 3sc, 1dc in next sc, ch3, work 3dc around post of the last dc made, (see pic 2) * rpt from * to * to end, sl st to 3rd of ch6 on beginning of row. Fasten off.







Finishing - Weave in any loose ends of yarn.
