sl st.    Slip Stitch


shell. (2dc, ch1, 2dc) in same space


vst.    (1dc, ch1, 1dc) in same space


Base of ch. Work in first stitch


ch3 counts as first dc


Finished size approx:  42” x 44 Inches


Materials

600 grams of King Cole big value baby DK in white (001)


OR

22oz of Worsted Weight #3 Yarn

6.00mm & 5.50mm crochet hooks


GAUGE - 2 shells & 4 rows of pattern measures approx 2” square

 Shawl - With 6.00mm hook ch150, change to 5.50mm hook, (RS) work 1sc in 2nd ch

from hook, * skip 1ch, 1 shell (see abbrev) in next ch, skip 1ch, 1sc in next ch, * rpt from

* to * to end. Turn. (37 shell groups).


Pattern Row 1 - 3ch, * 1 vst (see abbrev) in ch space of shell, 1dc in sc, * rpt from

* to * to end. Turn. (37 vst).


Pattern Row 2 - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * 1 shell in vst, 1sc in dc, * rpt from * to * to

last vst and 3ch, 1 shell in vst, 1sc in top of 3ch. Turn.


Repeat Pattern Rows 1 & 2 forty more times until eighty three rows have been worked

in all or work measures approx 40 inches from beginning. Turn.


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * ch1, skip 2dc, 1sc in ch space, ch1, 1sc in sc,

* rpt from * to * to end. Turn.


Shawl Edging - With RS facing, work ch1, 2sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each ch1 space

and sc to last sc, 3sc in last sc, working down first side of shawl, * work 1sc in next row

end, 2sc in next row end, * rpt from * to * to corner, 3sc in corner, working along cast on edge work 1sc in each ch to corner, 3sc in corner, again working in row ends, rpt from

* to * up second side of shawl to corner, 1sc in base of ch1, sl st to first sc on beginning

of row. Turn.


Next Row - ch1, 2sc in base of ch, 1sc in each sc around all four sides of shawl working

3sc in corners, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn.


Next Row - 3ch, 3dc in base of 3ch, * skip 2sc, (sl st, 3ch, 3dc) in next sc, * rpt from

* to * all around shawl to end, sl st to base of 3ch on beginning of row. Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew in and tie off any loose ends.
