Abbreviations

WS. Wrong Side

RS. Right Side

sc.  Single Crochet

hdc.  Half Double Crochet

trc.    Treble Crochet

rpt.    Repeat

sl st.  Slip Stitch


trcf.  Work tcr around sc directly below

(skipping 4 rows of main color) on the last contrast color row worked,

by inserting hook horizontally under the sc.


Picot Edge. * 1sc in next 3sc, ch3, sl st in first of ch3 just made, * rpt from * to * to end.


Size:- Approximately 23” x 18”


Materials

7.5oz of Light Worsted #3 Yarn in Main Color

1.75oz of Light Worsted #3 Yarn in Contrast Color

H (5.00mm) & F (4.00mm) crochet hooks


GAUGE - 9hdc and 7 rows of hdc measures approx 2” x 2” (5cm x 5cm)

With main color yarn & H (5.00mm) hook ch74, change to F (4.00mm) hook, (RS)

1hdc in 3rd ch from hook, 1hdc in each ch to end. Turn. (72hdc + ch2)


Next Row - With main color, work ch2, 1hdc in each hdc to end. Turn. Repeat last row

until 67 rows have been worked or work measures approx 18.5  inches from beginning.

Turn.


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each hdc to end. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - With contrast color yarn, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end.

Turn. Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Next Row - With main color yarn, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn.

Rpt last row three more times. Fasten off.


Next Row - Using contrast color yarn ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, * 1sc in each of the next

7sc, trcf (see abbrev) around sc on last row of sc in contrast color, skip 1sc, rpt from

* 6 more times, 1sc in each of the next 8sc. Turn.


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each st to end. Turn. Fasten off


With main color yarn, ch1, 1sc in each sc to end. Turn. Rpt last row three more times.

Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast color, ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in next 4sc, * trcf around

sc on last row of contrast worked, skip 1sc, 1sc in each of the next 7sc, * rpt from

* to * 7 more times, work trcf around sc around sc on last row of contrast worked, skip

1sc, 1sc in each of the last 3sc. Turn.


Next Row - ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each st to end. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in main color yarn, work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each st to end.

Turn.


Chair Back Edging - Starting with ch1, work one row of Picot edge (see abbrev) to last

sc, 3sc in last sc, working in row ends down side of chair back, work 115sc evenly along

to corner, 3sc in corner, 1sc in each ch along cast on edge, 3sc in corner, 115sc evenly along and in row ends up second side of chair back, sl st to first sc on beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast color yarn and starting with ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, work 1sc

in each sc all around three sides of chair back, (leaving picot edge un-worked) and working 3sc in both corners. Turn. Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in main color yarn, work ch1, 1sc in base of ch1, 1sc in each sc all around three sides of chair back, working 3sc in both corners. Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew in and tie off any loose ends. Make as many Chair back as you need.
