Abbreviations

WS. Wrong Side

RS.  Right Side

dc.  Double Crochet

htr. Half Treble

dtr. Double Treble

rpt. Repeat

ss.  Slip Stitch


dtrf. Work dtr around dc directly below (missing 4 rows of main colour) on the last

        contrast colour row worked, by inserting hook horizontally under the dc.


Picot Edge. * 1dc in next 3dc, 3ch, ss in first of 3ch just made, * rpt from * to * to end.


Size:- Approximately 23” x 18”


Materials

200 grams of Double Knitting Yarn in Main Colour

50 grams of Double knitting in Contrast Colour

5.00mm (H) & 4.00mm (F) crochet hooks


TENSION - 9htr and 7 rows of htr measures approx 2” x 2” (5cm x 5cm)

With main colour yarn & 5.00mm hook make 74ch, change to 4.00mm hook, (RS) 1htr

in 3rd ch from hook, 1htr in each ch to end. Turn. (72htr + 2ch)


Next Row - With main colour, work 2ch, 1htr into each htr to end. Turn. Repeat last row

until 67 rows have been worked or work measures approx 18.5  inches from beginning.

Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each htr to end. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - With contrast colour yarn, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc in each dc to end. Turn. Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Next Row - With main colour yarn, make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc in each dc to end. Turn. Rpt last row three more times. Fasten off.


Next Row - Using contrast colour yarn make 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, * 1dc in each of

the next 7dc, dtrf (see abbrev) around dc on last row of dc in contrast colour, miss 1dc, repeat from * 6 more times, 1dc in each of the next 8dc. Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each st to end. Turn. Fasten off


With main colour yarn, make 1ch, 1dc in each dc to end. Turn. Rpt last row three more

times. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast colour, 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc in next 4dc, * dtrf

around dc on last row of contrast worked, miss 1dc, 1dc in each of the next 7dc, * repeat from * to * 7 more times, work dtrf around dc around dc on last row of contrast worked,

miss 1dc, 1dc in each of the last 3dc. Turn.


Next Row - 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc in each st to end. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in main colour yarn, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc in each st to end. Turn.


Chair Back Edging - Starting with 1ch, work one row of Picot edge (see abbrev) to last

dc, 3dc into last dc, working into row ends down side of chair back, work 115dc evenly

along to corner, 3dc into corner, 1dc into each ch along cast on edge, 3dc into corner, 115dc evenly along and into row ends up second side of chair back, ss to first dc on beginning of row. Turn. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in contrast colour yarn and starting with 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, work

1dc into each dc all around three sides of chair back, (leaving picot edge un-worked) and working 3dc into both corners. Turn. Rpt last row once. Fasten off.


Next Row - Join in main colour yarn, work 1ch, 1dc into base of 1ch, 1dc into each dc

all around three sides of chair back, working 3dc into both corners. Rpt last row once.

Fasten off.


Finishing - Sew in and tie off any loose ends.
